Derived from a young human female, the NCI-H292 cell line comes from the mucoepidermoid pulmonary carcinoma of a metastasized lung cancer found in the lymph node. The cell line has been used for viral research and related drug development tied to infection by the herpes simplex, mumps, and measles viruses.
